I’m excited to welcome you to the New Albany Neighborhood! Our home on North Pine is an early 20th century American Foursquare—one of a handful of plot houses that were built by the West End Building Company. Though it’s modest in design, the amount of space and era-appropriate charm will not disappoint you.
When my fiancée and I were looking to move, I knew this was going to be the perfect house for us, even before I stepped foot inside. Apart from its quaint style and convenient layout, I wanted the backyard! I’ve been gardening since I was a child, and this yard has been my mecca. If you have a green thumb, you will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy it here, and an icebreaker with your wonderful new neighbors who also share this pastime.
For almost five years, we have fondly poured our blood, sweat, and tears into #132. We’ve checked off needed updates and splurged on beautification that only adds to the ongoing preservation of this historic home.
We have been privileged to live in a neighborhood surrounded by lovely people, on a block that is filled with diversity, professionalism, and working-class history. It won’t take you long to appreciate a more sustainable way of life in this walkable neighborhood. There are many
amenities (like the grocery store, a pharmacy, and the library) and fun establishments (e.g., restaurants, coffee, the movies) only a few blocks away.
I’m sorry to say good-bye to the home that we created at #132. My fiancée is relocating for a new job. I will miss quiet mornings with a cup of coffee on the back deck in the summer, I will miss chasing our dog around the backyard as he “helps” me tend to the garden, I will miss brainstorming home repairs over fence lines with our neighbors, and I will miss walking to the Point to gab and gossip with friends.
Dear future homeowner, I hope that you will love your new house at #132 North Pine Avenue as much as I have. And I wish you the same amount of peace, happiness, and long-lasting memories.
Sincerely,
Mary Millus
